CIC's are a form of social enterprises i.e. an enterprise wishing to trade and use the profits/assets for the benefit of the community. CICs are run like Ltd companies but have a much stricter auditing regime. A share structure allows for investment by those wishing to use their money to fund projects to benefit the community.

Focus on Faringdon CIC is a Community Interest Company. The raison d'être for the company was established by Nick Elwell whilst Chair of the Faringdon Chamber of Commerce. This is to create, develop and manage activities and events to promote Faringdon, its hinterland and the market towns within the Vale of the White Horse in Oxfordshire. The company currently has just 9 shareholders who have assisted the company achieve its goals. Focus on Faringdon CIC now employs 6 people. It produces the Focus on Faringdon Guide, The Advertiser and this web-site which is now undergoing substantial upgrading. It has its own Facebook page. The FocusOn brand is now being extended into other towns, other products and other services.  (see examples below)
